Bank of Erin October Newsletter

Happy October! As mentioned last month, I just returned from vacation. I’m fully in email archaeology mode, getting caught up on how my clients’ grant proposals are progressing and diving back into the waters that are November deadlines from the NIH and other State and foundation funders. It’s hard to believe we’re in the final quarter of the year. I’m mapping out the rest of my year and putting some things into motion for 2027 that I hope will be exciting. Yes, I’m a strategic planner even for my own career and life: post-it notes abound, sketches that involve Venn diagrams, my Todoist and analog bullet journal paired with the rainbow of color-coded blocks on my Google calendar.

Maybe the thought of that makes your teeth sweat and pulse race. I think we all have our sweet spot of structure and flexibility, and the key is to find the balance that lets us be productive without burning out, organized without being so rigid that we freak out when something doesn’t go exactly according to plan.

This would be a perfect topic to bring to my newest offering: Bank of Erin office hours, a virtual co-working accountability and support space! You can register and get more info on Luma. It starts on Thursday.

It will be donation-based at first, and at some point be available to paid subscribers (whenever I switch on that option).

For the first forty-five minutes, we’ll be in silence just working on whatever writing project we have (yes, that could be email). Then, I’ll be available for thirty minutes as a kind of office hours, if you have questions about anything that’s coming up for you, or a specific problem you want to tackle.

On that note, here’s a round up of September’s posts.

Substack

Have you checked out my Science for your Mother Substack? I recently wrote about “failed” clinical trials. I know this group isn’t really the target layperson audience, but share with your science-curious non-scientist friends!
